Grieving My Religion Part 1

Following Christ Out of American Christianity

There’s No Other Way to Say This

There have been so many times that I have felt like going on Facebook and declaring, “I am no longer a Christian!!!” and then being done with this religion for life. But, every time I almost did it, I couldn’t get myself to write it for a few reasons:

1. I have had a enough personal experiences with Christ that I could never walk away from the spiritual legacy that Christ Consciousness imprinted on the world.

2. As a 40+ year Christian and a pastor for more than a decade, I honestly felt some responsibility to the people who have known me over the decades, hundreds of whom I served as their pastor and thousands who have heard me speak with my love for Christ on my sleeve.

3. I have a family to provide for and other responsibilities. So, I didn’t want to put them in a situation just because I was having a hard time. Therefore, I was hoping that this feeling would pass if I just gave it a few years. It hasn’t.
